How to get to Puerto Viejo?
To get to Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica, you can fly into the capital city of San José (SJO) and then take a bus or shuttle.
How to get here by public bus:
You can take a bus from San José directly into Puerto Viejo city centre. The bus ride takes around 4-6 hours. It departs from Terminal Atlantico Norte in San José. It is approximately 45 minute taxi from the airport to the bus station. The cost is typically $25-$35. Uber does operate in this area (it is cheaper just not “official”).
The bus company is called "Transportes Mepe" and they have several departures per day.

The normal operating times are as follows:
6:00 A.M.
8:00 A.M.
10:00 A.M.
2:00 P.M.
4:00 P.M.
Once you arrive in Puerto Viejo, you will be dropped off at the main bus station and from there you can take a taxi, Tuk Tuk or walk to the hostel. It is approximately 1.1km.
Private Shuttle (recommended)

This is a 4-6 hour trip in a 6-10 person van with both AC free wifi and bi-lingual speakers. The pickup will be at Dennys near the airport. You can take one of the free hotel airport shuttles to get from the airport to the pickup location.
There is one designated stop while en route to get both food and use the restrooms. If you need further stops, the drivers will be happy to accomodate.
The shuttle will drop you off directly at our front door.
